About EZ Schematics: Electrical CAD Software

This software program was designed by an industrial electrician with over 20 years experience in both troubleshooting and training in control relay logic (similar in many regards to PLC logic). The application, established in a line diagram format, provides the end user with the ability to quickly and easily transform
logical concepts into a professionally diplayed electrical
schematic.

Admittedly, as a stand-alone CAD program, EZ Schematics does not
offer all of the features nor the
capabilities of AutoCad and other well established CAD software applications.
But with the learning curve set far lower than the
aforementioned, you’ll never find an easier method to transform
electrical relay logic concepts into digital documents (as line
diagrams) that can
be saved and printed with professional appearance.

What makes EZ Schematics a better CAD program for producing electrical schematics includes the following:

1. Ease of use. There’s no other Electrical CAD program available that’s
easier to learn than EZ Schematics.

2. Almost all of the electrical symbols are created in 1/2″ scale increments designed to align perfectly with the default snap (also set at 1/2′),
thus making precise placement of the symbols a simple procedure.

3. Our default library is the NEMA symbols library from which
most U.S. electrical schematics are developed. Thus, there’s no waste of time in pouring over thousands of
choices you won’t use. We also offer an IEC library.

4. When inserting a symbol, smart choice labeling is employed. For example, when inserting a control relay coil, “CR” is automatically attached as the standard beginning label anticipating it to be followed by “1” or “2”, etc.

5. The “Line” control (the most popular device) becomes readily available by simply double-clicking anywhere in the drawing.

6. Labeling the wire numbers is performed easily and precisely. Just click and type at the location of choice.

In addition to the software being a simple to use CAD
program, its rich features also make it easy to utilize the
program as a training mechanism. Case in point shown below.

In the above circuit, we’ve highlighted some parts of the
schematic (diagram) in color to demonstrate the principle of voltage
potentials. In this case, all of the high side voltage (120 with
respect to neutral), is displayed in red. The low voltage
(neutral) is represented in blue.

This gives the end user a visual concept and understanding of
the voltage differences (voltage potential) throughout the
circuit. Now the circuit becomes more dimensional in the sense
that it’s not just a black and white schematic (diagram), but rather a
more dynamic illustration.

FAQ:

Q: I downloaded the software and a warning popped up. What’s
this about?
A: Nothing to panic about. Downloading and installing the
software will not harm your computer. The warning is merely to
inform you that Wade Instruments has not went through the
publisher certification process which re-ensures customers that
the product is safe to install and that we are who we say we
are. We intend to join soon. More about the warning can be found
here.

Q: I received the message “Setup fatal error: Unable to generate installation log file” after double-clicking the setup button. How do I resolve this issue?
A: The error happens because you don’t have permission to install a program. You’ll need to have an administrator install the software for you.

Q: Can I create and save my own symbols?
A: Yes.

Q: Are there any plans to develop more symbol libraries, like
hydraulic, PID, or European style symbols?
A: Yes. some of those libraries have already been developed and
others are in the works.

Q: Can the symbols be resized?
A: Yes.

Q: Can I change the font and font size?
A: Yes.

Q: Can I save the drawing as a PDF?
A: Yes. Saving as a PDF requires a third party tool, such as
Bullzip PDF Printer, which is a free download.

Q: When I try to print the drawing, it comes out on 2 or more
sheets of paper. What’s wrong?
A: You have an element or label on the drawing that is outside
the boundaries of the printer. There are 2 possible causes:
1. Access the printer properties and select the correct paper
size from the list.
2. You have inadvertently moved an item to a location you cannot
see. Before proceeding, save a copy of your drawing. Then, open
the drawing and select all items by pressing CTRL + A. Use the
SHIFT and UP, DOWN, LEFT or RIGHT arrow to move the items to
extreme locations until the unseen element comes into view.
Delete that element and select all again and move as previously
mentioned. As a last resort, send us the file so that we can fix
the drawing.

Q: Why do I receive an error 380 when trying to print?
