PlayStation Plus Essential, Extra free games for March 2023 announced
PlayStation has announced March’s free games for the Essential tier, and a smattering of the free games coming to the Extra tier, ahead of schedule during its State of Play livestream that took place this week.
Despite the early announcement, they are still being added to the subscription service on the first and third Tuesday of the month, respectively. That’s March 7 for the Essential games and March 21 for the Extra games.
As a reminder, Essential is the base tier that lets you play online. Every month there are three to five games you need to claim within that time period, which you can then access as long as your account has an active subscription. Extra is like a video streaming service for games, you gain access to hundreds of titles, but they can be removed at any point.

Essential’s titles for March are online military shooter Battlefield 2042 (PS5), randomly generated hack-and-slasher Minecraft Dungeons (PS4) and open world anime action game Code Vein (PS4).
Extra subscribers will be getting Tchia (PS5, Ps4), a brand new indie exploration title that’s actually coming to the service on its day of release.
There’s also big names in Naughty Dog’s globe-trotting Uncharted: Legacy of Thieves Collection (PS5) and last year’s first-person martial arts/supernatural mash-up Ghostwire Tokyo (PS5), as well as Ubisoft’s Breath of the Wild-alike Immortals: Fenyx Rising (PS5/PS4) and Tom Clancy-branded tactical shooter Rainbow Six Extraction (PS5/PS4).
