What is SoundQ?

SoundQ software is a desktop application for macOS and Windows available for monthly or annual subscription. SoundQ gives you unlimited access to sound effects and music to use royalty-free in your projects, plus the ability to organize your local files and send sounds directly to your editing software for quick workflow.

How does licensing work?

Sound Effects:
All sound effects from the SoundQ Library are covered for 1-user, royalty-free, commercial usage in all media, worldwide. Any project created while subscribed to SoundQ will stay covered even after you unsubscribe. Full information on licensing can be found in the SoundQ EULA.

Music:
All tracks are pre-cleared for worldwide use, in perpetuity (forever), in all media. For broadcast use (Film, Television, VOD/OTT & Radio), please submit a music cue sheet to your local performing rights organization (PRO), and also share a copy of that cue sheet with PSE at [email protected]. What’s included in the SoundQ Library?

The SoundQ Library gives you unlimited access to 100,000+ sound effects and 20,000+ music tracks and stems – with unlimited downloads. All sound effects are curated from the Hybrid Library.

What’s included in the SoundQ Free Library?

The SoundQ Free Library gives you unlimited access to 2,000+ sound effects and 100 music tracks and stems selected from the full SoundQ Library – with unlimited downloads. All sound effects are curated from the Hybrid Library.

What does “Purchase Additional SFX from full PSE Library of 850K Sounds” mean?

All SoundQ tiers include in-app access to purchase additional sounds from the entire Pro Sound Effects Library of 850,000+ sound effects starting at $3.99 per file. These sounds are covered for perpetual 1-user, royalty-free, commercial usage in all media, worldwide.

Think of this as your sonic safety net – if you can’t find the sound you need in the SoundQ Library or your local library, you’ll find it in the PSE Library.

Can I get unlimited or customized access to the PSE Library in SoundQ?

Does SoundQ work with my editing software?

Yes! SoundQ lets you drag-and-drop files to any software. SoundQ also supports Spot to Timeline for Adobe Premiere, Pro Tools, Reaper. We will be adding Spot to Timeline support for more applications soon!

Can I access my own local files in the cloud with SoundQ?

No, you can not upload your own files to the cloud… yet! Your local library currently must be stored on your computer or external hard drive. Files you can access in the cloud include the SoundQ Library, Freesound.org, and your purchased PSE Libraries.

I own Search software by Pro Sound Effects. What does this mean for me?

For Search owners, we’ve enabled unlimited local files and are offering an extended SoundQ trial – contact us to get set up.

Your Search software will continue to work, and your iLok license is perpetual, so you can continue using it. However we will not be actively developing or releasing non-critical updates. Learn more here.

What is the usage rights difference between purchased libraries or sounds from Pro Sound Effects vs. the SoundQ Library?

When you buy any Pro Sound Effects library (like CORE), or purchase individual sounds within SoundQ or from the PSE website, you get 1-user royalty-free unlimited usage on any project, forever. Explore Pro Sound Effects libraries here.

When you subscribe to SoundQ, you’re covered for 1-user royalty-free commercial usage on any project while you are subscribed. Any project created while subscribed to SoundQ will stay covered even after you unsubscribe.

I have Soundminer, BaseHead, Soundly or another database software. Can SoundQ complement my workflow?

Yes! Subscribe to SoundQ to get unlimited access to the SoundQ Library, your purchased PSE Libraries, and Freesound.org (CC0) – plus in-app access to purchase additional sounds from the full PSE Library as your sonic safety net. Have all the sounds you need on any project, in the studio or on the go.

What happens when I cancel my SoundQ subscription?

When you cancel your SoundQ subscription, you are moved to the SoundQ Free plan at the end of your payment cycle. Here’s what happens to your account:

Sounds Effects & Music: Your access will switch to the smaller SoundQ Free Library of sound effects and music. You will still have unlimited downloads.
Database: Search results will only give you access to 5,000 files randomly selected from your Local Library databases.
Payment: You will not be billed on your next payment cycle.

You will still have unlimited in-app access to your purchased PSE Libraries, Freesound.org (CC0), and the ability to purchase additional sounds from the full PSE Library.
