LÀM THẾ NÀO ĐỂ SO SÁNH CÁC SỐ LIỆU TRONG IELTS WRITING TASK 1?

Tiếp nối các bài về cách xây dựng cấu trúc cho phần Body của IELTS WRITING TASK 1, hôm nay IZONE sẽ hướng dẫn các bạn đi cụ thể vào cách viết so sánh giữa các số liệu.

TH1: Số liệu này gấp x lần số liệu kia

Bước 1: Miêu tả số liệu lớn hơn trước
Bước 2: Diễn đạt chỉ sự gấp x lần so vs số liệu nhỏ hơn (e.g.: a figure ? times as much as …..)

Ví dụ: Biểu đồ cho thấy 78% người tham gia nghiên cứu tin vào sự đi xuống của chất lượng không khí, trong khi những người tin nó tốt lên là khoảng 22% -> gấp hơn 3 lần

Cụ thể với ví dụ trên:
Bước 1: Roughly 78% of the surveyed youngsters expect to see a decline in air quality
Bước 2: A figure three times as much as that for those who thought the opposite

Câu chốt: According to the graph, roughly 78% of the surveyed youngsters expect to see a decline in air quality, a figure more than three times as much as that for those who thought the opposite.

TH2: Số liệu này = số liệu kia

Để diễn đạt số liệu bằng nhau có rất nhiều cách diễn đạt khác, IZONE sẽ suggest một số cách hay cho các bạn áp dụng:

• A and B are relatively the same/ similar, both (accounting for/ starting the period at/ ….) + (số liệu)
• There is an equal distribution between A and B….

Ví dụ: Biểu đồ cho thấy số liệu người tin vào sự đi lên của chất lượng đồ ăn bằng vs những người ngược lại

Câu chốt: There is a near equal distribution between those who anticipate the betterment of food quality and those who do not, with approximately 50% on each side.

Hoặc

The figure for those who anticipate the betterment of food quality and those who do not were relatively the same, both accounting for approximately 50%.

TH3: Số liệu này như này, mà số liệu kia như kia

Với TH này, đơn giản sẽ là:

1. Liệt kê các số liệu
2. Dùng các từ nối mang nghĩa tương phản, đối lập, tuy nhiên:

• Nếu so sánh trong cùng 1 câu: whereas, while
• Nếu so sánh trong 2 câu khác nhau: meanwhile, in contrast, conversely, etc…

Ví dụ: Biểu đồ cho thấy 50 học sinh ko hoàn thành khóa luận và 30 người phải viết lại.
Câu chốt:  50 students were reported to fail to complete, whereas a mere 30 were required to rewrite their dissertation.

Hoặc

50 students were reported to fail to complete their dissertation. Meanwhile, 30 students were required to rewrite.
