Download Asian apps with ease

TapTap is a free mobile app store that lets you download and play various mobile games in other languages. This app store promotes a lot of  Asian games and apps—most especially those from China. If you’d like to access foreign games that aren’t offered in most popular app stores or if you’re looking for games in your native Asian language, then you can try this app out.

Is TapTap a Chinese app?

Most of the time, you’ll get your apps from either Google Play Store or Apple App Store, depending on your operating system. You may also opt to get apps from third-party sources and install their files yourself. Now, you’ll usually get English as the default language for the apps and have to change it in the apps themselves. However, this can be tricky for non-native English speakers and readers if they want a product that’s in their language.

Fortunately for Chinese and Asian users, they can get non-English apps through TapTap. As noted, it is an app store that offers Asian mobile apps and games. The default language is Chinese, but you can change it to Japanese, Korean, and even English. Take note that much of its selection consists of apps and games in their original Asian languages, though. Thus, you won’t be able to change the in-app languages as easily.

What’s great about this app store is that it has familiar features all organized in an intuitive interface design. There are five main sections available: Home, Discover, Moments, Rankings, and Library. Discover is where you can find popular new apps, trending apps, and collections. The Moments section, on the other hand, has recommendations and groups. Meanwhile, Rankings lists everything down from highest to lowest if you prefer numbers and ratings.

How do you use TapTap?

A cool feature of TapTap is that it’s community-oriented and also feels like a social networking app. It relies on players’ opinions in rating apps accurately. Thus, you can easily check how good a game or app is by simply reading the user reviews displayed on each of their pages. However, since much of the target demographic is Asian, most of these reviews will be written in their language. These can’t be translated by changing the language settings alone. 

Downloading the apps from this store is pretty easy. Visit their page and click Install or their price tag button. The mobile version is easier to use since it doesn’t need you to scan the QR code that the TapTap website will issue when downloading. Unfortunately, the app will sometimes use social media platforms you may not be using, such as WeChat and QQ, in order to log in.

A nice alternative

Overall, TapTap is great for getting Asian games and apps in their default languages. It can be tricky to use at times if you don’t fully speak the languages offered—and don’t really use some of the apps’ preferred social media sites. Nevertheless, this app store still offers user-centric features meant to help you find the right mobile apps.
