The Room ironically focuses less on the entirety of the room the player is trapped in and rather focuses on fidgeting with the small intricate tinkerings of special items found within each room. Portal 1 & 2
- Platform
: Steam, PlayStation 3, Xbox 360
There’s no doubt Portal 1 and 2 are incredibly well-received and well-known among the gaming community but it’s not often seen as an escape room game when it easily checks all the right boxes to be one! Despite all villain GLaDOS’s taunting and mocking, Chell is forced to continue through the Aperture Science facility, solving and finding a way out of each test chamber with the help of her trusty portal gun.
While throughout the years Portal has been celebrated as an amazing puzzle platformer, its escape room aspect of it isn’t as well recognized and should definitely be considered the next time a friend asks for a great escape room recommendation. GLaDOS, Wheatley, and the beloved Companion Cube would be happy for the mention!
