DAVR (Digital Automatic Voltage Regulator)

Many Honda generators feature Digital Automatic Voltage Regulator (DAVR) technology
for increased performance. The DAVR holds the voltage stability within a +/- one
percent change during operation against the U.S. standard of 60hZ.  This creates
more stable power for you.

Why is voltage stability important?

  • High Hertz can result in tool damage because of the speed and saturation of the
current. Saturation is the ratio of volts and frequency. Applying more Hertz will
cause the application to be over-saturated, which means a lot of extra heating.

Over time the extra heating will diminish the overall lifespan of the tool in use.

  • Low Hertz means the motor spins slower and has less torque at that speed.
This means less horsepower, and ultimately less work.

DAVR keeps your generator’s voltage more stable than conventional generators.
The result?  Better performance, and better protection for your tools.

Other benefits of DAVR

The DAVR adjustments are driven off the main winding, as compared to a sensor winding
in conventional AVR systems.   This enables more reliable output voltage
detection, without being affected by the change in temperature or load current.

The DAVR has a built-in, self-diagnosis function to prevent engine speed from exceeding
4,140 rpm for longer than three seconds and abnormal voltage. A built-in temperature
protection system protects the generator from overheating.
