4 Steps to Install Presets on Lightroom Mobile

1. Download the DNG files to your phone

After scrolling through the large variety of presets, a specific one will catch your eye. After you purchase the preset, it will be downloaded as a DNG file. If this is the case, you can move straight on to Step Two.

Some presets, however, are compressed into a ZIP file to make them more compact. You need to extract or decompress these files first before obtaining the .dng files.

Most smartphones allow you to extract files with the help of apps such as iZip or RAR, which you can find on the Play Store.

If your phone is unable to do so, you can always perform this task on the computer.

Option A

Install iZip or RAR on your phone. After downloading the compressed file, launch iZip and proceed to open the downloaded file. Once you are done with

unzipping the files, you can proceed directly to importing them to the Lightroom app.

Option B

If your phone is unable to extract ZIP files, you can use a PC or laptop to perform the task instead. After downloading the ZIP file onto your PC or laptop, double-click the file to unzip and extract. Doing so will create a separate file under the same name but in DNG format.

Next, move the DNG files onto your phone. You can do this through Dropbox or any other method you prefer. If you are using Dropbox, you can just simply drag the DNG files into the Dropbox folder and wait for the files to synchronize.

Once syncing is complete, open Dropbox on your phone and export each DNG file.

  1. Open Dropbox and tap the three dots next to each DNG file.
  2. Tap the option to ‘Export’.
  3. Tap ‘Save Images’

There you have it; all the DNG files have been saved onto your phone.

2. Import the preset files to the Lightroom mobile app

Once the DNG files have been saved on your mobile phone, you have what are called ‘preset carriers’.

All you need to do is add them to the Lightroom mobile app and save the presets obtained from them. They might be shown as blank picture files in your photo gallery. This is not something to be worried about.

  1. Open Lightroom and create a new album with the name of your choice.
  2. Open the newly-made album and tap the three dots in the top right corner. Tap the option, ‘Add Photos’. (If you extracted your DNG files through iZip, select the option ‘From Files’ and then browse through your iZip files. However, if you downloaded the presets directly onto your Camera Roll through Dropbox or download, select the option ‘From Camera Roll’)
  3. Select the relevant DNG files and import them into the new album.

3. Create and save your presets

Click on the album that contains the DNG files you have just imported. Open the first file in the album and tap the three-dot icon in the upper right-hand corner. Tap ‘Create Preset’.

This will open the ‘New Preset’ screen that enables you to customize your new presets. You can also rename presets here.

Once you have customized the preset to your liking, you can add it to a Preset Group in the Lightroom mobile app. Feel free to save it under User Presets, or a new preset folder to keep it all organized.

You will then be faced with some checkboxes. Each checkbox determines settings (or elements of the preset) that you might like to include or exclude.

Only the settings that you choose here will be applied to the photographs that you edit with this preset in the future.

You might want to exclude some settings because most of them vary from picture to picture, excluding the ones that alter saturation or exposure. Often, the composition is similar in each picture.

Once you have customized the preset to your heart’s content, tap the checkmark icon in the top right corner of the screen to save your settings. Every preset can be customized this way.

4. Using Lightroom Mobile presets

Now your downloaded presets are ready to be used on your photographs. To do so, you just need to edit your pictures as you normally would.

  1. First, open the image that you would like to edit from your picture library.
  2. Tap the ‘Presets’ icon in the toolbar at the bottom of the screen. Find your preset in the correct Preset Group, based on where you saved it.
  3. Apply the preset by simply tapping on it. Don’t forget to tap the checkmark!

You are free to adjust the picture and edit further if you find that the colors and composition still need a little tweaking.

Above are the complete steps on how to add presets to the Lightroom mobile app. It’s that simple!

What is a Lightroom Preset?

A Lightroom Preset is a ready-made combination of settings that alter your photograph in the best way possible. Presets allow you to make your pictures lighter or darker, enhance colors with saturation, and use several aspects to create one ‘look’ that can be duplicated across several photographs.

If you’ve just started using Lightroom on your phone, you might be wondering how to add presets to Lightroom mobile app.

Through presets, you can change a picture’s entire appearance with just one click.

It is as simple as it sounds. Whether you are going for a grunge effect to make your photograph look old-school or a dreamy effect for a fantasy-themed photograph, it can all be achieved with presets.

Presets can also instantly enhance colors by allowing you to focus on a tint or specific shades in the image.

By doing so, you can make your photograph look like it was taken in spring, summer, autumn, or winter.

There are tons of ready-made presets that are available, so you can edit on-the-go, and in less than a minute! If you had been asking, “Can you download presets on lightroom mobile?” or you want to know how to add presets to the Lightroom mobile app, read on.

Can You Use Lightroom Presets on Mobile?

Adobe’s Lightroom Mobile is generally considered more advanced than its photo-editing counterparts. Due to popular demand, Adobe has even enhanced the mobile app, making it possible to use presets without necessarily syncing to your desktop anymore.

The mobile version of the app provides a vast range of features, including dodging and burning, exposure control, healing brushes, and selective adjustments on particular parts of the picture. Moreover, users can develop their photographs in RAW format.

Lightroom presets are widely available on the internet. With a huge range of them sold at affordable prices, they can easily be bought and used.

How Do You Share Lightroom Presets on the Mobile App?

If you are planning on making presets and sharing them with friends through the mobile app, we’ve got bad news.

This is not yet possible. You will need to use the desktop version of Lightroom Classic CC or Lightroom CC.

First, apply your preset to the image that you want to use. Then, select ‘File’> ‘Export with Preset’> ‘Export to DNG’ and then save. The result will be saved as a DNG file, which can be shared.

Lightroom presets are a great way to enhance your photos. Some people may not realize it, but presets are available on Lightroom mobile.
