It’s a shame that A Game of Thrones: The Board Game – Digital Edition was released after the hype around the series had died down considerably. After all, this title features great mechanics and engaging gameplay that is a blast to get through. The only issue that players have with this title is that it had a ton of bugswhen it was first released, but that was mainly around launch. These issues have been fixed over time, and a group of friends can now easily play through this great title and have a ton of fun in the process.

The depth of the mechanics present in this title is genuinely quite surprising and makes each and every playthrough a unique challenge on its own. There’s a single-player mode for players who want to test the AI’s capabilities, but the true potential of this game shines when players are pitted against human opponents. The sheer chaos that can ensue is highly entertaining. You might not feel like the suave political maneuverers of the show, but you will at least get to feel like you’re the master of the board.

Game Of Thrones (2012)

It’s pretty confusing sometimes, but most people are aware of the difference between the Game of Thrones RPG and the episodic narrative adventure. This entry will talk about the former, which had a really solid story but didn’t really wow gamers on any other front. It’s a shame since the story of 2012’s Game of Thrones is actually pretty solid and players can have a great time if they manage to look past its issues. However, these problems are so frequent and prevalent that it can honestly be hard to enjoy the game for what it is.It’s a downright Herculean task to ignore my myriad of bugs, repetitive character models, half-baked combat, and all the other issues present in this title. However, players who managed to get through this entire game genuinely consider the story to be world-class and a worthy entry in the Game of Thrones timeline. It’s just a shame that so many players won’t be able to check this experience out due to the issues that plague this title.

Game Of Thrones (2014)

The 2014 Game of Thrones adventure game was pretty well-received for the most part, despite its flaws. Telltale Games was releasing a slew of titles at this point, with Game of Thrones being another brilliant game where players could make choices to influence a narrative that played out side-by-side with the main story. This was the norm with most Telltale games at the time, and Game of Thrones was a great format for the same.

Due to the lower budget of this game, some main characters weren’t a part of this narrative-heavy title. However, for what it’s worth, Telltale Games did a brilliant job of working past these restrictions to craft a pretty great adventure title. Unfortunately, the studio shut down before the second season could be made, which is a shame. All the plot points that were explored in past games will be left up in the air, unless some miracle makes this second season a reality once again.

Reigns is an amazing take on the swipe-left action that has been popularized by most modern dating apps on mobile. This game came out and used this action to govern entire realms and weave amazing narratives, which is incredible given the simple mechanic they’ve used to let players craft their own stories in a cutthroat medieval realm. The balancing act present in these titles have become a simple yet highly engaging part of the gameplay that governs the decision-making behind every swipe.

The original game was so popular that multiple renditions were made for the same. This includes Reigns’ take on Game of Thrones, which lets gamers roleplay as certain important figures in the game and make in-character decisions that let players revisit the land of Westeros once again. It’s an ingenious way to make players feel like their decisions matter without integrating too many complicated mechanics.
