Babel Finance loses Multiple Top Employees
Crypto lender Babel Finance is losing multiple top employees, after pausing withdrawals two weeks ago.
Babel’s head of global partnerships, Yulong Liu, plans to leave by the end of this month or early next month after working there for three years.
Liu recently updated LinkedIn to say he left Babel this month and has since deleted his profile. However, a spokesperson for Babel said that Liu is still working for the company and declined to comment on his planned departure.
Sean Yang, director of global partnerships; Xavier Xiang, another director of global partnerships; and Yuchen Jiang, who worked in an unspecified partnership role have also left Babel according to their LinkedIn profiles.
All three of them were associated with the company for less than a year.
From the PR team, Babel lost its director of communications, Jacynth Wang along with Yiwei Wang, the firm’s global PR lead.
Top employees of Babel including Lei Tong, head of lending at Babel Finance and Ryan Wu, managing director and COO of Babel Asia have deleted their LinkedIn profiles, making it unclear if they are still working for the company.
According to an interview last month, Babel had a workforce of 170 employees. However, currently its LinkedIn profile shows a working staff of only 44 people.
It is unclear if the massive decrease in staff is due to layoffs or resignations.
Babel is currently in a jam and is facing liquidity issues amidst the bear market, forcing it to pause withdrawals.
