Downloading from GitHub

Most of our workshop materials can be found on GitHub.

With Git

If you’re familiar with git and have it installed on your computer, you can clone the repository to download the files.

Without Git

When downloading materials to your laptop, it is easiest to download the entire repository. To do this, go to the GitHub page for the workshop, click on the green Code button, then download the repository as a ZIP file.

The filename may be different than what’s in the picture. Find the downloaded .zip file on your computer, likely in your Downloads folder. Unzip it – usually by double-clicking. This will create a directory (folder) named after the GitHub repository. Move this directory (folder) somewhere on your computer where you’ll be able to find it, like your Documents folder.

Follow instructions for your workshop as to what file to open.
