How can I download eBooks to my Kindle? – Library FAQs
For more information, including how to transfer an eBook via a USB cable, please visit the Overdrive Instructions for Kindle page in the library’s Research Center.
To transfer an eBook to a Kindle via wi-fi:
- On a computer or Kindle Fire, go to fairfax.overdrive.com.
- Borrowed titles are found in your Loans, which can be accessed through the book icon at the top of the screen.
- Select Read now with Kindle next to the title.
- Selecting Read now with Kindle opens Amazon’s page “Get Your Digital Library Loan” in a new window.
- If you are signed in to your Amazon account, select your device then select Get Library Book. If not signed in to your Amazon account, select Get Library Book before signing in and selecting your device.
- If your device is connected to a Wi-Fi network, the eBook will download to your Kindle device. If the title does not show up automatically, select Sync and Check for Items from the Kindle menu.
- To read your eBook, look in the Home folder. If you have a Kindle Fire, your book will be in your Carousel.
Assistance is also available on Fairfax County Public Library’s OverDrive page. Select Help at the upper-right corner of the screen.
