So, you’re going to need a few things checked off before you download games on your PS4 via your phone.

And, note, you can only download content on your PS4 remotely if it’s either turned on or in rest mode. If your PS4 is off, then it can’t communicate with your phone and vice versa to start downloads.

Make sure you have completed the following:

  1. Set up an internet connection on your PS4. You can do this via Settings > Network > Set Up Internet Connection.
  2. Allow your PS4 to stay connected to the internet in rest mode. You can do this via Settings > Power Saving Settings > Set Features Available in Rest Mode > Stay Connected to the Internet.
  3. Download the PlayStation App to your phone and sign in with your PSN account.
  4. Link your PS4 to your phone with the PS App. To do this, select the Play section, tap the cog icon to access your settings, and, under Console Management, select Link Console to App, then follow the appropriate steps.

Now you’re ready to download PS4 games with your phone!

You can download content on your PS4 in a few quick steps:

First, select the game or add-on to want to download to your PS4 on the PS App. This can be something new or something you’ve purchased but deleted, which you can find in the Game Library section of the PS App, under Puchased. You should now see the option to download that content to your linked console (which should be your PS4). Select Download to Console.

Then, in a short while, your phone should say that it’s downloading. Now, you can relax, knowing that your content is downloading onto your PS4. And, if you’ve downloaded the wrong thing, or changed your mind, then you can cancel the download; just select the blue Cancel sign and confirm your decision.
