How to Download an Excel Spreadsheet

Click the Windows Start button. Choose “All Programs” then “Default Programs.” Click “Associate a File Type or Protocol with a Program.”

Click “Name” to alphabetize the list of file formats. Scroll through the list and locate “xls” and “xlsx.”

Confirm that Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Works Spreadsheet, or other applicable spreadsheet application appears under the Current Default field.

Click “Change Program” if no application — or if the wrong application — is associated with the file type. Select the appropriate program from the list. Click “OK.” Click “Close.”

Return to your Web browser and click the spreadsheet file you want to download.
6.
Select “Always Open Files of This Type” or “Do This Automatically for Files Like This From Now On” from the pop-up window, if available. Press “Enter” to initiate the download.
