Install up-to-date OEM drivers for your PC’s graphics hardware… – Plugable Support

Hi Bram,

Sorry for the delay. We were researching the FireGL V5700 and the results are mixed, unfortunately – poeple have had various troubles over the years, probably owing to this being a specialized card.

Normally, when you see this message (install up-to-date OEM drivers), it’s because it’s an older card that does not have WDDM driver support (necessary for Vista/Win7 Aero).

In this case, it’s something different, as there is a WDDM driver for the V5700.

In particular, there’s one report of a kernel crash on Windows 7 with certain versions of the V5700 driver and DisplayLink 5.6 drivers (here http://www.displaylink.org/forum/show…) and it’s possible DisplayLink is actively trying to detect and not install on that combo.

So to figure out next steps (and if we have a good next step), can you post

  1. What OS you’re on – is it Win7 or Vista? 32 or 64?
  2. What version of ATI driver you’re now running. You can get this from running msinfo32 and selecting components->display (you can even cut/paste that info here).

Given the compatibility issues reported by others, I suspect the trick here will be to find the right version of ATI drivers which will work (and others have reported to work).

If we can’t get things going, unfortunately that means none of the leading USB graphics solutions will work either … but we’ll definitely get you a refund if we get to that.

So thanks for posting those two pieces of info, and we’ll figure out next steps.

Thanks for your patience!
Bernie
