Installing Microsoft Teams | Impact Computing

Microsoft Teams is a communications/collaboration app that can be used to keep communication centralised within your company. You may already be licensed for this on your existing Office 365 subscription – please call us to discuss.

Installing Microsoft Teams

You can install Microsoft Teams on pretty much any device (PC/Laptop/Mac/Apple Phone/Android Phone/iPad etc). You can even install it on multiple devices. It’s also accessible via a browser without installing anything. Please pick the appropriate option below to get it installed, and then see https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jugBQqE_2sM for a basic introduction on some of the things teams can do.

Please note – do not use the Files functionality in Microsoft Teams. This is something that has to be configured per organisation for it to work properly and securely.

Accessing Teams using Just a Web Browser

1. In your web browser, navigate to https://office.com and choose sign-in
2. Enter your e-mail address and password, some of you may know this as your “Outlook” password
3. You will see a list of tiles at the top, click on the one called Teams
4. You may see a screen asking you to install the app – ignore this, at the bottom of the message there is an option to “Continue to web app” – choose that
5. You should now be in Microsoft Teams

Accessing Teams from a Windows PC, Laptop or Mac

1. Go to https://teams.microsoft.com/downloads and choose Download Teams. It may take a few seconds, but it will ask you to download the installer
2. Download the installer and open it. Accept any notifications/windows that appear. A window will pop up telling to it is installing Microsoft Teams.
3. If you don’t have permissions to install items or it prompts for an Administrator username or password at this point then please call our helpdesk on 01772 684282
4. Sign in with your e-mail address and password, some of you may know this as your “Outlook” password
5. A tutorial/tour may popup when you login, either take the tutorial or click Chat on the left hand side to exit
6. You should now be in Microsoft Teams

Accessing Teams from iOS/Apple

1. Open the App Store
2. Search for Microsoft Teams (the icon is Purple and has a T on it)
3. Click Get
4. This will install the app.
5. Open the app and sign in with your e-mail address and password, some of you may know this as your “Outlook” password
6. You should now be in Microsoft Teams

Accessing Teams from Android

1. Open your App store or Play store
2. Search for Microsoft Teams (the icon is Purple and has a T on it)
