Design
Available in six different colours ( black, blue, green/black, white, white/pink, and yellow), the JBL Tune 120TWS earpieces have a sleek exterior that looks more like an art piece than your average pair of headphones.
The JBL 120TWS TUNE headphone features a sleek and slim design that fits comfortably in your hands. They also come with an ergonomic fit, providing you with the ultimate experience while listening to these earphones.
The battery life of 4 hours is surprisingly enough for me as they are lightweight on my ears at such a small size! With just 15 minutes worth of charge time, I can also have another hour from their charging case, giving plenty more playtime than expected!
The earbuds come in a variety of colours with six different sizes for each. For some, it might be challenging to find the right fit, but fortunately, there are plenty of options! They also included an instruction manual covering everything from charging your device and pairing them up with various devices like computers or phones.
When you want to use your earbuds, all that needs to be done is a simple left or right side tap. The power button on one can turn them off while powering up turns it back on again! Likewise, a single tap on the left piece will either skip forward through a track, and double-tapping will do the opposite backward.
Tapping the right ear’s button twice summons your phone’s voice assistant, such as Siri or Google, and holding it down for three seconds will mute the mic (or unmutes it).
The JBL TUNE 120TWS earphones are great for long days at the office, but they might not be so good if you’re working out. Unfortunately, the company doesn’t publish an IP rating on their website, so we don’t know how well these earpieces can hold up to sweat or water. However, it seems that a light splash of water isn’t enough to damage electronics like this one.
The Charging Case
The JBL Tune 120TWS is a sleek, lightweight pair of truly wireless headphones with an ultra-portable and protective carrying case. The housing for the battery flips opens easily to charge your device on the go while closing securely, thanks to its magnetic closure tab that prevents it from coming undone or sliding out in transit.
Wearers of these earbuds will never have to worry about misplacing them. Not only are they magnetized, but the magnets also help secure and insert the buds into their charging case with ease.
My only criticism of this product is its outdated features, such as an older Micro USB charger port instead of newer standards like Type c, which has been more widely adopted across the industry.
That creates some frustration for me since I still need to carry the JBL 120TWS TUNE around those pesky smaller cords so my phone can charge adequately, but with time comes progress. Soon enough, nobody will ever worry about having different types of chargers again if everyone starts using Type C standard!
Confort
The JBL Tune 120TWS comes with three different sized ear tips, but unfortunately, I found no wings included, as you see on most wired Bluetooth headphones. That means the wireless buds would often fall out of my ears and left me frustrated at times. In addition, I wouldn’t recommend them for working out because they are without ear wings to secure the fit. I’m afraid they would fall out from movement.
Bluetooth Connection
The wireless headphones offer the convenience of Bluetooth 4.2 and can reach 12 metres with no worry of signal loss. Furthermore, the user can pair their device without prior knowledge thanks to a direct pairing function that starts once they are removed from the transport case.
This item is perfect if you are always on the go and don’t have time to mess with complicated setups. This device will switch your in-ear headphones on when they’re removed from their charging case, then automatically turns them off once returned there. If only one side of your ears needs a tune-up, use the right handset wirelessly as it acts as a master speaker.
The Bluetooth earbuds have an integrated interface, which allows the user to switch them on and off manually by pressing a button. If you hold down the right-hand button for long enough, it will turn both handsets off; if you press it briefly while they are switched on.
Battery Life
The JBL 120TWS is a wireless Bluetooth speaker that will have you feeling like the music never ends. With up to 16 hours of playback, it’s perfect for those long road trips with friends or just some laid back solo time in your room!
Music is a great way to get into the groove and clear your head. However, it can also be very draining on our ears, especially if we listen for hours at a time. Thankfully, I only listened for about two hours straight before needing some break with my JBL tune 120tws.
It is understandable why many people would think that wireless earbuds might not be worth the investment. After all, they are constantly running out of battery and breaking down in ways we never thought possible before!
However, these more advanced models have a life expectancy longer than most other brands on the market today; you will get over 1 hour of playback time from just fifteen minutes of charging with this model.
Sound Performance
Internally, 5.8mm dynamic drivers deliver a frequency range of 20Hz to 20kHz through internal amplification and digital signal processing (DSP).
Unfortunately, that means that you won’t get any app-controlled EQ adjustments with these earphones because they don’t have an accompanying mobile application or equalizer settings in the companion controller. Still, it doesn’t matter anyway since their sound signature is already bass heavy for active listeners who prefer powerful low end during workouts!
The JBL Tune 120TWS provides an excellent low end and punch, but it is not very detailed. While the bass may seem underwhelming to some listeners, there’s enough energy that music sounds lively on most test tracks.
Compared with other wireless earphones from other companies, the 120tws’s sound isn’t as vibrant or energetic in terms of bass response. However, for someone who enjoys livelier lows (like me), they will enjoy these headphones because I feel like their reproduced frequencies are more accurate than what you’ll find in many competitors’ products.
The mids of the Tune 120tws are very clear and sound almost like a live performance. The vocals stand out from the other instruments in that they don’t get lost with all of the drums, guitar, etc.
That is surprising as distortion usually affects how much one can hear what’s going on around them because it covers up parts of noise or overpowers everything else nearby. But for some reason, there isn’t any here, which makes listening to these well-separated vocals not only easy but enjoyable!
The high on these JBL 120TWS earbuds have a slight edge, not quite bright and not peaky either. However, it provides just enough sparkle for highs to sound special without being too harsh or uncomfortable like they can sometimes be with other models. Instrumentation and vocals are well represented in this range of the frequency spectrum, retaining accuracy while still feeling crisp and clear.
When it comes to the soundstage, this JBL tune earphone struggles. However, truly wireless headphones can rarely deliver solid soundstages; compression from Bluetooth technology is usually a downside that can’t be avoided. While the soundstage may feel unduly narrow, there is a good sense of depth. The dynamics are solid and have room to breathe with relatively low lows and high highs, giving these earphones some real-life in their tone.
Conclusion
The new JBL TUNE 120TWS earphone is cord-free, with a 5.8mm driver and 16 hours of battery life! They are loud in sound thanks to the Pure Bass technology and colourful in design. Moreover, the earbuds come combined with an elegantly designed portable charging case that gives you up to 16 hours of musical enjoyment without wires or hassles!
Ergonomically shaped for added comfort, these wireless headphones will give you long-lasting listening pleasure as well as one-click access to Siri or Google Now. So your phone can do all the work while you enjoy every single note from this great pair of earbuds.
What Buyers Say About JBL Tune 120TWS Earphone?
These sound great! I’m happy with these as my choice for wireless earbuds under $100. Sound quality is great! Bass is good, call quality is good and what you’d expect. I hear everything the other person is saying and they hear me perfectly. And the case is compact enough to be very easily portable and hold a good charge. The case also has a great build quality and a lid that doubles as an addicting fidget toy.
I was a bit hesitant buying this in amazon but it turns out to be one of the best wireless earbuds i ever had. Though it doesn’t gives the full assurance that it wont fall in my ear while cycling or running but am loving it while im traveling in plane, train or bus. Sound quality is great as expected for a JBL! Price is decent enought & it looks & feels great!
The earbuds have well balanced sound and are comfortable. Play & pause is easy to use and bluetooth range is great. Cons: The case for the earbuds is larger than normal and bluetooth doesn’t always connect easily. Especially when switching between multiple devices. Battery life in earbuds themselves can also be improved. Overall, the earbuds are excellent especially for the price. Would recommend to others.
