OPPO Enco W11 Review – Slightly Higher Price But Worth It!

TWS earphones just keep on coming this 2020. The true wireless stereo is the trend for this 2020. What started with the expensive Galaxy Buds and Airpods have reached the budget-friendly category and like always we have the Chinese covering this price range. Similarly and recently, OPPO released their first budget-friendly entry-level TWS earbuds known as Enco W11 priced at Rs.2499 ($33). How well they sound? Can they beat the other budget-friendly TWS earphones, more specifically Redmi Earbuds S and Realme Buds which are slightly cheaper? Let’s find out in this OPPO Enco W11 review:

I really like the color combination as everything here is just pure white.

OPPO Enco W11 Review – Design & Appearance

Starting this OPPO Enoc W11 review with the design and appearance section, OPPO Enco W11 has the best premium feel to it in comparison with almost every budget TWS earphone. The QCY T5 are the only ones that do stand out in feel but not everyone will like its design (partial in-ear design). So for such users, OPPO Enco W11 is suitable because of the complete in-ear design.

The color of the earbuds is white so one might have to use it with care. It’s easy to get them dirty.

Since these are budget-friendly, entry-level earphones, they are made from plastic similar to the Realme Buds and Redmi Earbuds S.

The thing which differentiates the Enco W11 from Redmi Earbuds S and Realme Buds is the build quality. We can found some visible edges/corners in Redmi and Realme. However, that’s not the case with OPPO Enco W11, the edges are corners are smooth. One can feel the premium effect just by holding the earphone.

In terms of appearance, the earbuds have a plain design with an LED light on it. They are ovular in appearance.

As for the weight, each earbud of OPPO Enco W11 weighs only 4.3g thanks to the plastic build. The case weighs 35.5g because of the in-built battery in it. The Realme Buds Q are lighter than W11.

  • Better feel and design than Realme Buds Q and Redmi Earbuds S

  • Easily gets dirty

OPPO Enco W11 Review – Comfort & Wearing Experience

Since, these are complete in-ear buds (from complete I mean, not that stalk extending out), they are comfortable in the ears. OPPO provides 3 ear tips (S, M, L) in the packaging to make the earphones a perfect fit in the different ear sizes. They don’t have any special design on the earpiece, but rather just a plain design which is fine for the price.

As for the running experience, the Enco W11 is recommended for running since it’s wireless, is lightweight, and has a comfortable fit. Moreover, just to protect from sweating, it also has IPX5 certification making it sweatproof and dustproof at the same time. And yes, you can use it in the rainy season, but not in the pool (not IP68 certified). Remember there’s the difference between water resistance or waterproof.

  • Recommended for jogging, at the gym, and raining

  • If you are looking for IP67 or IP68 earphones, you should stay away from these earphones. Not for swimming or any other pool activity

OPPO Enco W11 Review – Charging Case

Coming to the charging case of this OPPO Enco W11 review, honestly, the charging case is beautiful and the best one I have seen in this price tag (in terms of aesthetics). The case reminds me of a pebble and the plain, simple white color is just amazing. I have previously tried QCY T5, Redmi S, Realme buds Q, some fake AirPods i TWS series, Mpow M9, and a few more, the Enco W11 has the best charging case design.

charging casecharging case

There’s a single tiny LED on the front which indicates the charging status of the case. Like most of the TWS cases, you can’t put the right earphone in the left earphone’s place or the left one in the right earphone’s place. Moreover, the holding place in the case is strongly magnetized, so one doesn’t have to worry about the earbuds coming out of the case (even the lid is tight).

I would have appreciated if the inner design was not bulging up but at a level to the case or had a slight grove as it’s in my QCY T5.

The top lid is strong and tight. It’s tight enough to not get loose over the time and smooth enough to open with a thumb similar to all those experience TWS earphones out there.

Lastly, OPPO Enco W11 charging cable is Type-C which is a lot convenient since these days almost every phone or gadget comes with the Type-C port. You can charge it from your phone’s cable. I do not recommend using the fast charger (more than 2A/5V, 10W) on small battery gadgets and earphones. A standard charger with no fast charge will be just fine or even your PC’s USB port. Even its competitor like the QCY T5, Redmi S doesn’t have a Type-C port but MicroUSB port instead.

I do recommend buying a cover or bag for the charging box, as with time the case with being prone to scratches (almost all my TWS earphones cases have been like that).

  • Type-C port
  • Pebble-like design

  • White color gets easily dirty

OPPO Enco W11 Review – Hardware & Performance

Firstly, OPPO Enco W11 has an 8nm titanium-plated dynamic driver in each earphone. It’s the same size as in the most TWS earbuds at this price range.

OPPO Enco W11 drvierOPPO Enco W11 drvier

The audio chip isn’t specified by OPPO but it isn’t Qualcomm’s chip since the latency isn’t as good as a Qualcomm chip earphone has, and there’s no apTX.

As for Bluetooth, it’s the v5.0 module which is the standard module for earbuds under this price tag in 2020. Bluetooth 5.1 and 5.2 are present in some but all are expensive.

  • Titanium plated driver (clear sound)
  • 8nm size provides good controlled bass

  • No apTX (no Qualcomm chip)

OPPO Enco W11 Review – Sound Quality

OPPO advertises the sound quality of Enco W11 to be crystal clear and heavy bass. That’s true to some extend. The clarity is worth praising for this price. The bass has a good hump to it, better than QCY T5. When compared to the Redmi Earbuds S and Realme Buds Q, OPPO wins in the bass, as the sound is pretty clear along with the bass. The bass is high but controlled at the same time. However, that’s not the case with Redmi Earbuds S and Realme Buds Q which ruins the sound with the high and uncontrolled bass.

Here are the ratings:

Clarity: 8.5 out of 10
Bass: 8.5 out of 10
Details: 6 out of 10
High-Frequency Response: 8 out of 10
Mid-Frequency Response: 7 out of 10
Low-Frequency Response: 6 out of 10
Soundstage: 5 out of 10
Treble: 7 out of 10

 Total sound rating: 6.9

I don’t recommend OPPO Enco W11 for Gaming

OPPO Enco W11 has a slight delay in audio while playing games. There’s no gaming mode and the latency isn’t improved anyway. So, I don’t recommend it for gaming. If you want a gaming TWS earbud, look for the ones with Qualcomm chips or the one which has gaming mode to improve sound latency.

  • Good Clarity
  • High bass but controlled

  • Lacks details
  • Bad soundstage

OPPO Enco W11 Review – Talking / Call Experience

I always haven’t liked the call experience when it comes to cheap TWS earphones and OPPO Enco W11 microphone quality and call experience is no exception. In fact, it’s one of the downsides of the earbuds. While driving on a bike and using them, the wind noise was too much. OPPO hasn’t even made it clear if there’s CVC or any other feature used to improve the call quality. My QCY T5 did a much better job.

I  don’t recommend these earphones for calling . The phone microphone is much better.

  • Good voice call in indoors

  • Worst voice call outdoor
  • No background noise reduction

OPPO Enco W11 Review – Connectivity

OPPO Enco W11 highlights how they have a smooth and stable connection when used in Binaural mode (stereo mode, both earphones used at the same time). I don’t think it’s something to brag about because that’s the same in almost every earphone I have tested under this budget.

Since we have the Bluetooth 5.0 module, OPPO Enco W11 connectivity range is 10 meters.

The earbuds connect quickly within 3 seconds. It’s not as fast as the MPOW M9 and QCY T5.

To connect OPPO Enco W11:

  1. Open the case, take the earbud(s) for mono or stereo use
  2. It will automatically go in pairing mode
  3. Turn on your device’s Bluetooth
  4. Scan for devices
  5. Click Enco W11
  6. Connected

OPPO Enco W11 Review – Functions & Features

OPPO Enco W11 has a touch control feature which makes them somewhat premium and other cheap earbuds.

Here are functions of OPPO Enco W11:

  • Answer/end call
  • Music pause/play
  • Change tracks
  • Voice assistant
  • Volume increase/decrease

OPPO Enco W11 functionsOPPO Enco W11 functions

OPPO Enco W11 features include:

  • Noise isolation (it’s the manual noise-canceling done by the earbuds itself, not to be confused with active noise canceling)
  • AAC (advance audio coding) file support (upgrade of MP3 file with more details)
  • Touch control (this is really premium)
  • Mono and stereo mode
  • Automatic connectivity
  • iOS and Android compatibility
  • A battery icon on iOS (which isn’t a big deal, as most earphones show that)
  • Has all basic functions
  • AAC
  • Touch-control
  • Good noise isolation (if used correct ear tip)

  • No advance function or feature
  • No gaming mode
  • Poor latency while gaming

OPPO Enco W11 Review – Battery Life

OPPO Enco W11 is advertised to be 5 hours and each earbud has a 40mAh battery. I got a battery life of 4 hours 20 minutes:

  • one hour PUBG (100>>>70%) – poor latency
  • one hour music (70>>>55%)
  • one hour video on Netflix (55>>>35%)
  • one hour audiobook (35%>>>17%)
  • 20 minutes of music (17%>>>5%) – battery low warning

Volume: 75%

Type-C cableType-C cable

The charging case has 400mAh of battery and you can charge it four times making it around 20 hours in total. The battery charges in 1 hour and 20 minutes from 0% to 100%.

The Verdict

Concluding the OPPO Enco W11 review, even though OPPO Enco W11 has slightly high pricing than Realme and Redmi TWS earbuds, however, that’s worth it. The build quality is much better than those two and the sound quality as well (better clarity and bass).

However, it has poor call quality and the high latency while gaming as the downside. In the end, for good sound, it’s better than Realme buds Q and Redmi Earbuds S. But for gaming and voice calling, it’s a no and not better than Realme buds Q and Redmi Earbuds S.
