The card looks so much better without that plastic cover on the backplate.

The design is getting worse with each generation.

zlobby’PowerColour’?

British English. Even though it isn’t correct in terms of the company name, it’s more accurate in the grammar sense. Some of us have that info in a “read only” folder. 😉

not sure what to think of this, on the one hand its pure function over form, which I can appreciate.
on the other hand they slap a bunch of crap on there to semblance design of some kind which just looks wasteful and ugly.

in the end I dont give a crap myself, as long as it preforms well.

It’s not swappable. Just a cover to put on if you like.

I was going to go reference but not having a glowing RADEON logo is a bummer, realy liked it on the 6000 series. The Red Devil looks sick, might just wait a while and grab that.

Yeah, I knew that. I was just curious about it because it’s 50/50 in the article.

As for the acurateness, there are so many forms of English…

I wonder if PowerColor started to use RGB LEDs instead of just red for the IO panel and backplate. Like whats the point in RGB if half the card is stuck in red lol. Looking at you 5700 XT and 6900 XT.

It’s awkward really. I read color and colour the same way without noticing, but when i write I always do colour, as I feel that one letter missing and it bugs me. And the damn internet is against me all the time (spellchecking).

Why would anyone complain about the swappable backplate, it’s ridiculous.
It gives the opportunity to create backplates that change the looks of the card and not get stuck with the same thing that cost over 1000$ look the same for years.
To me, simplicity on this feature is very welcomed.
For those who don’t like it, don’t buy it, that’s the beauty, it’s not like the other designs that you have to be stuck with same thing, now I want to see what other backplates they might have coming up.

I’m a pretty loyal Powercolor user since 5700XT.

5700 XT Powercolor (sold) – > Vega 64 Powercolor (sold) -> 6900 XTXH Powercolor -> 6950XT Powercolor.

Their software sucks but theirs cards are performers for sure. I recommend to all. I have a 6900XTXH Asrock and it is a performer too. TPU editor choice.

My 6900 XTXHs hit clocks at 2700 on AIR. My 6950XT does the same, but the memory over locks to 2350.

I highly recommend Powercolor, but they need to wake up and start providing TPU with review samples. They are trying to go the way of content creators…

Red Devil 5700XT has probably the best board of all the AIB’s. There’s a Buildzoid’s review of it. When I was in the market for those, I’ve chosen the Nitro+ between the two, as I really can’t stand satanic symbolism, especially as a “cool” factor.

Response from the PowerColor designer:

Plastic is also a great insulator, trapping more heat inside the GPU & creating a more devil’ish gaming experience. 😎 ™

Plastic cover is for those who like to undervolt their cards and run them at max 50w.

It was hit or miss if I got a sample. I would email my contact like 2 months ahead, otherwise I wouldn’t make the seeding list. My feedback was the same every time. great cards but the RGB sucks. Software sucked. RX 6000 series MB RGB control would work if you attached it to a RGB header lol. You still had to install PowerColor software to active this feature.. It was really stupid to have RGB lighting but half the cards LEDs cannot be turned off and stay red. Why even implement RGB if you aren’t going to do it correctly. Just leave it red…that’s fine its a “RED DEVIL”.

So basically, Powercolor cards have always been great since my first one (Powercolor Radeon X800 XT), just don’t buy it for the RGB lighting.
