Reddit – Dive into anything

I’m new to video editing. Whenever I upload a video to youtube the quality degrades drastically. I saw videos explaining that when you upload your video, Youtube automatically uses a codec called AVC which degrades the quality. To fix this you need to save your video in 1440×1080 & then Youtube will automatically use a codec called VP9 which doesn’t degrade the quality. So I’m trying to export my videos in Openshot in 1440 but no matter which option I choose, my exported video is squished horizontally. The original widescreen is now a square like pan & scan. I’ve been searching all over for a solution but I can’t find anything.

I need to learn how to export my videos so Youtube will use the VP9 codec. I’ve watched a bunch of video tutorials for this but I just can’t get Openshot to cooperate. What am I doing wrong???
