Research Fellow, Software Composition job with RMIT University | 2869866

  • Full-time, 1 year Fixed Term position
  • Salary Academic Level A6-B2 ($90,692 – $106,321) + 17% Superannuation and Flexible Working Arrangements
  • Based at the Melbourne CBD campus, but may be required to work and/or be based at other campuses of the University

About the Role

The Research Fellow will work on the project “Software Capabilities for Open and Dynamic Architectures” together with the lead CIs and collaborators from DSTG. . This project aims to develop a knowledge representation for software capability inspection that can support development of a reasoning framework for matching and composition of software capabilities.

The role will undertake tasks related to software development. These include Researching, designing, implementing, and managing software programs; Identifying areas for modification in existing programs and subsequently developing these modifications; Testing, deploying software tools, processes, and metrics; Working closely with other developers. As well as coordination of regular and ad-hoc meetings, teleconferences, collaborative forums, and associated site visits (where required). Regular reporting on project progress via verbal, written and formal presentation mediums.

To be successful in this position, you’ll have:

  • Ability to work autonomously whilst displaying a strong commitment to work in a team environment, including the demonstrated ability to confidently and effectively work with colleagues, project team leaders, and industry partners.
  • Demonstrated ability to meet deadlines and effectively manage varying workloads and respond to changing priorities as required.
  • Demonstrated high level written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong programming skills.
  • Experience in one or more of the following areas would be preferred – agent programming, agent-oriented software engineering, ontologies.
  • Demonstrated ability to conduct high quality research resulting in publications at highly ranked Computer Science/AI venues such as IJCAI, AAAI, AAMAS, CIKM, ECAI, KR, ICAPS, etc.

Qualifications

Mandatory: PhD or masters level degree in a Computer Science field or equivalent.
