Video games
Console video games are the primary media the Resident Evil series is known for and started as. Following Resident Evil 2, multiple games were scripted and developed simultaneously leading to the non-linear numbering and naming of the games that doesn’t necessarily designate any as “main” or “spin-off” titles.
Resident Evil Survivor, Resident Evil Survivor 2 CODE:Veronica, and Resident Evil: Dead Aim are part of Capcom’s “Gun Survivor” spin-off series of light gun supported titles.
“Resident Evil Archives” is a series of Nintendo Wii titles that consists of ports of the Resident Evil remake and Resident Evil 0 from the Nintendo GameCube.
Resident Evil 7: Biohazard marked the start of an internal push to more strongly unify the Japan and Western markets hence the combining of the names “Resident Evil” and “biohazard” in the title. This naming convention is continued with the Resident Evil 2 remake’s Japanese title Biohazard RE:2, where the “RE” stands for “Resident Evil” as one of its meanings.
For listing of a games’ versions and editions, see their individual pages Console game versions and Console game editions respectively. For listings of box sets containing multiple games see Bundles.
