Samsung Exynos 9611 Vs Qualcomm Snapdragon 730 – Are You Sure Snapdragon Is Better? – TechHow

Samsung has just launched the Samsung Galaxy A51 And Galaxy A71. Two smartphones that have designs that are quite similar have many differences between them.

One of the most basic differences is the processor used. Galaxy A51 in this case comes with Samsung Exynos 9611 SoC, while Galaxy A71 comes with Qualcomm Snapdragon 730 SoC.

If you look at the prices of these two devices, then surely many have guessed that the Galaxy A71 has a more powerful SoC than the Galaxy A51. However, is that true?

Exynos 9611 is an SoC that was developed using big.LITTLE configuration. This SoC has four high-performance 2.3 GHz ARM Cortex-A73 cores and four 1.7 GHz ARM Cortex-A53 power-saving cores.

This configuration is quite different from the big.LITTLE configuration owned by Snapdragon 730. In addition, Snapdragon 730 is noted to have a newer core and higher performance called the Kryo 470.

So you can more clearly compare, the Kryo 470 consists of two types of core which include the high-performance Kryo 470 Gold (ARM Cortex-A76) core and the Kryo 470 Silver power-saving core (ARM Cortex-A55).

Snapdragon 730 itself combines with the configuration of two Kryo 470 Gold which is set with a maximum speed of 2.2 Ghz and six Kryo 470 Silver set with a maximum speed of up to 1.8 GHz.

Based on information from ARM, Cortex-A76 can be twice as powerful as Cortex-A75. ARM also mentioned that Cortex-A55 can be 15 percent more efficient and 18 percent relatively more powerful than Cortex-A53.

From this core factor, it has actually been discovered which SoC is better. But to strengthen the conclusion, let’s discuss some things from other sectors that are no less important to note.

In the sector GPU (Graphics Processing Unit) used, for example, the Exynos 9611 still offers an ARM Mali-G72 MP3 GPU but Snapdragon 730 already uses a Qualcomm Adreno 618 GPU.

Adreno 618 is technically more capable than Mali-G72 MP3. This is because the GPU made by Qualcomm already supports GFLOP value (the amount of tasks that can be handled per second) greater.

Adreno 618 is able to penetrate floating-point numbers up to 422 GFLOPS, several times higher than Mali-G72 MP3 which is only able to penetrate 30.54 GFLOPS.

But on the other hand, Exynos 9611 has more screen support than Snapdragon 730. Exynos 9611 technically supports resolutions up to 2560 x 1600 pixels while Snapdragon 730 only up to 2520 x 1080 pixels.

In addition to capabilities in the performance sector, Snapdragon 730 was slightly superior in the modem sector used. If Exynos 9611 only has a modem with a Cat.12 downlink (600 Mbps), Snapdragon 730 has a modem with a Cat.15 downlink (800 Mbps).

Switch to sector ISP (Image Signal Processor)Exynos 9611 also cannot outperform Snapdragon 730. Exynos 9611 basically only supports 64 MP single camera and 16 MP dual camera, while Snapdragon 730 already supports 192 MP single camera and 22 MP dual camera.

To package all of the above support, Exynos 9611 is still using a larger fabrication. This means that Snapdragon 730 also has better power efficiency than the SoC.
