ScanWrite Software
Windows 7 – 32 bit versions
Windows 7 and 8 – 64 bit versions
Windows 10 Operating Systems
ScanWrite is an excellent Kiosk Style Software program that is compatible with the ST200, ST200X and ST Companion/Epson 700 scanners. These were written in the era of Windows 32 bit XP/Vista software, yet it is to a large extent able to continue to work with Windows 7 or Windows 8 OS platforms. Windows 7 being older provides more crossover capability options. Here are the details.
Windows 7 – 32 bit version:
Everything works the same, just like earlier versions of OS:
-
- Supports all ST Companion/Epson functionality
- Supports ST200/ST 200X High Resolution Direct Film Scanner
- Supports ST200/ST200X Camera Monitor Image Quick Scan (Snapshot or ViewScan) to PC via USB cable
Windows 7 and Windows 8 – 64 bit versions:
Requires no changes to continue to use the output from the camera for viewing, but does need a Workaround for the ST200X Camera image capture
- Supports all ST Companion/Epson functionality.
- Supports ST200X High Resolution Direct Film Scanner
- No longer supports ST200X Camera Monitor Image Quick Scan (ViewScan) to PC via USB cable. (64 bit drivers are not available from the OEM camera maker)
There are no 64 bit (W7 or W8) drivers for the USB Camera connection. However there is a workaround for the ST200X. You can capture images to a SD/USB combo card placed in the SD slot in the side of the ST200X. The card cannot exceed 512MB, but the images it captures are relatively small file sizes
- Obtain SD/USB card (Available on Amazon.com see below).
- Place SD card into SD slot on side of unit.
- Use the Remote Control (key you push in upper right corner looks like a camera) to click and capture images to SD Card.
- Unplug the SD/USB card and place its USB side into a USB port.
- Navigate to that USB port Open, View, Transfer or print the images.
Windows 10
You should be able to perform a clean install of Windows 10 and ‘convert’ from a 64-bit OS by downloading and using a 32-bit Windows 10 ISO to create the installation media. NOTE, you will then lose all ability to run 64-bit software and will also have to live with the limitations of a 32-bit OS including the limitations on the amount of RAM that can be accessed etc.
Once the PC is running as Windows 10 32-bit follow instructions from the top of the page as if you were installing on a Windows 7 or 8 PC.
