Modern Warfare, the 2019 version, was developed by Infinity Ward, as a restart to the Modern Warfare series we all know and love. Call of Duty: Modern Warfare was the first MW game we’ve seen since 2011’s Modern Warfare 3.

Many of the old-school maps were brought back to 2019’s MW, including the likes of Shipment, Rust, Crash, Scrapyard, and Vacant.

MW also built the foundation for the next game on the list, Warzone, which has become one of the most popular games in the world.

4. Call of Duty: Warzone – (2020)

Most Popular Video Games - Call of Duty Warzone - Modern WarfareMost Popular Video Games - Call of Duty Warzone - Modern Warfare

Call of Duty: Warzone is a free-to-play Battle Royale released on March 10, 2020.

Upon its release, Warzone was set on a large 150-200 player map, Verdansk, which was made up of lots of other smaller maps/areas used in the Modern Warfare game.

It quickly became one of the most popular games worldwide, but players gradually began to stop playing in 2021 due to the ongoing hacking issues, and lack of new features.

Since the release of Vanguard, a new map has been added to the game, and Activision has installed a new anti-cheat system in an attempt to keep players satisfied.

3. Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War – (2020)

Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War was developed by Treyarch and released on November 13, 2020.

Cold War is the fifth game in the Black Ops series and saw the return of some popular multiplayer maps, including Nuketown and Raid.

The campaign is set during the early 1980s of the Cold War, which would place it between Black Ops 1 and Black Ops 2 chronologically.

The weapons and attachments were slowly integrated into Warzone later on in the year.

2. Call of Duty: Vanguard (2021)

Call of Duty VanguardCall of Duty Vanguard

Call of Duty: Vanguard was developed by Sledgehammer Games and released in November 2021.

As per the previous Call of Duty World War games, Vanguard is also set in World War II.

Whilst I’m not normally a big fan of the World War II games, Vanguard adds a lot of new and improved features/sound effects which make it a lot of fun.

Blind fire and destructible maps are just two of those new features.

1. Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II (2022)

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare IICall of Duty: Modern Warfare II

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II is the sequel to 2019’s reboot of the Modern Warfare series.
