Youth Olympic Games – World Rowing

The Youth Olympic Games (YOG) is modelled off the Olympic Games but designed for youth and outside of the 28 sports it includes educational programmes. It began in 2010 taking place in Singapore. Since then it has been held every four years but with the 2022 event being rescheduled for Dakar, Senegal in 2026. For the first time rowing will be on the sea using the coastal rowing Beach Sprint format.

A total of 96 athletes can compete with qualification regattas and a country quota system used to determine the athletes that can participate. There are continental qualification regattas for Asia, Africa and Latin America as well as the main qualification regatta held the year before.

To row at the YOG athletes must be 17 or 18 years old.
