How to Buy and Sell Bitcoin with a Family Account

Buying Bitcoin
Once your parent or guardian (sponsor) approves your request to invest in stocks and bitcoin, you can start buying bitcoin with the following steps:
- Tap the Money tab in the bottom left corner
- Tap the Bitcoin tile
- Tap buy (any amount above $1 will work!)
- Confirm with your PIN or Face ID
- Tap Confirm
Buying Bitcoin in NY (for family accounts)
Family accounts are unable to use bitcoin features if they or their sponsor are New York residents. We’re working to make this feature available to users in this state.
Bitcoin Buying Limits
Family accounts have a limit of buying up to $100 in bitcoin per week. Buy limits include the combined activity across bitcoin purchases, bitcoin gifting, and Round Ups.
For example: If a customer under 18 buys $75 in bitcoin, gifts of $20 in bitcoin, and rounds up $5 in bitcoin within a week (7 day span), they will have reached their buy limit for bitcoin.
Selling Bitcoin
If you would like to sell your bitcoin, follow the steps below:
- Tap the Money tab on your Cash App home screen
- Tap on the Bitcoin tile
- Select an amount or tap … to enter an amount
- Enter your PIN or Touch ID and tap Confirm
To close an account, the sponsor will need to contact support.
