Samsung Galaxy S II support.

Updating your software.

It’s a good idea to update your phone’s software regularly. Updating your software gives you new features, keeps your phone running smoothly and can fix a lot of common problems. It should always be one of the first things you do if you’re having problems with your phone.

Before you can update your phone, make sure your battery is fully charged. You should also make sure that you’ve backed up your personal data, like contacts that are stored on your phone.

Software updates need to be approved by mobile networks before your phone will allow you to update your software. If you’re using a phone that you didn’t get from us, an update may not be available at the same time as it would be for a phone that came from Three.

To update your software, you’ll need the latest version of Samsung Kies software. You can get this from Samsung’s website.

To update your software:

  1. Connect your phone to your computer using the USB cable and open Samsung Kies

  2. When Samsung Kies recognises your phone, it’ll automatically check for an update. Select Update

  3. You’ll be asked if you’d like to back up your content. Select the content you’d like to back up then select Next

  4. You’ll see a caution regarding the update. Tick the box and select Start upgrade

  5. Your computer will now download the sofware upgrade and install it on your phone

  6. Once the upgrade is completed, Samsung Kies will restore your backed up content to your phone. Select OK

  7. Your phone will show ‘Android is upgrading…’ and may take a few more minutes to update

Your phone software will now have been updated.
