The 5 Best Unlimited Cloud Storage Providers in 2023 [Features & Price]

The 5 Best Unlimited Cloud Storage Providers in 2023: Features & Pricing Compared

Need a cloud provider that offers unlimited data storage space? These five providers do not cap their online storage, which is incredibly useful if you need to store a huge amount of data or you work with large file types, like raw video files or 3D images.

What Makes the Best Unlimited Cloud Storage Providers?

Before diving into our criteria and the list itself, here’s a quick glance at our five picks, as well as their most distinguishing characteristics.

  1. Sync.com for Teams — The best cloud storage; unlimited capacity available
  2. Dropbox Business — A cloud storage veteran that’s easy to use, but expensive
  3. Box — Business cloud with unlimited storage and excellent third-party integrations
  4. OpenDrive — Secure unlimited cloud storage with a great personal plan
  5. Backblaze — Online backup rather than cloud storage, but the cheapest way to get unlimited storage online.

Since these services all offer unlimited storage space, we’ll evaluate them based on our regular cloud storage criteria.

That includes functionality, meaning things like block-level sync, file-sharing and syncing, versioning policies and collaboration and productivity features. Price is also hugely important, and since most unlimited plans are business plans, that means what you’ll actually end up paying (since they have a minimum user requirement), and not just the listed price per user.

There’s also ease of use, since no one wants a piece of software that’s a chore to handle. Finally, security and privacy are always top of our minds, so we’ll do our best to recommend services that will keep all your data safe as well as private.

The 5 Best Cloud Storage Services With Unlimited Storage

When we say “unlimited,” we mean it in the fullest sense of the word. The main difference is that most of the providers below are regular storage, while one is an online backup provider. With all of this in mind, let’s get started with our number one pick.

1. Sync.com for Teams

sync web application

More Details About Sync.com:

  • Website: sync.com
  • Pricing: $15 per user per month, billed annually; minimum of two users

Pros:

  • Top-notch security & privacy
  • Affordable
  • 365-day versioning
  • Great file-sharing features

Cons:

  • Slower than competitors
  • Minimum of two users per subscription

Sync.com has long been Cloudwards’ top choice for cloud storage in general, and with the addition of its unlimited plan in 2021, it should come as no surprise that it’s been catapulted to the top of this list as well. The service features excellent security and privacy, as well as extensive file-sharing functionality and one of the best versioning policies in the business.

It’s not entirely without its flaws, as upload and download times are a bit slower than some of its competition, but this is a small price to pay for everything else Sync.com has to offer its users.

Recover Lost Files With Sync.com’s Rewind Feature

As we briefly mentioned, Sync.com has an incredibly extensive versioning policy. Although it varies depending on the plan you choose, if you’re on the Teams Unlimited plan, you can recover past versions of files and deleted items for a full 365 days.

This means that you can rest easy knowing that if anything gets deleted, changed or overwritten by accident, you’ll have plenty of time to undo what happened. This also offers a great degree of protection against ransomware — a cyberattack that functions by encrypting all your files and demanding a ransom for restored access.

Because you can quickly and easily revert your stored files back to their pre-encrypted state, as long as you don’t wait for a whole year, you don’t even have to consider giving in to cybercriminals’ demands.

Except for Backblaze, which is more of an online backup provider than a cloud storage service (more on that later), Sync.com offers the biggest bang for your buck out of all the entries on this list. Unlimited cloud storage through the Teams Unlimited plan will run you $15 per user per month, which is an incredibly good deal.

Unfortunately, it requires you to sign up a minimum of two users, which raises the cost to $30 per month. You can also opt for the month-by-month cost of $18 per user — again, there’s a minimum of two users. If you want to learn more, check out our full Sync.com for Teams Review.

Honorable Mention: Internxt Drive

Before we wrap things up, there’s one more unlimited online storage service we’d like to mention: Internxt Drive. It’s pretty new to the field, having launched within the last couple of years.

As you can see in our Internxt review, it still has a long way to go in terms of features. Because of that, as well as the price-point of the unlimited plan, it doesn’t quite earn a spot on the main list.

internxt unlimited storage cloud

That said, it does offer unlimited cloud storage in the form of a lifetime plan that costs 999 euros (or roughly $1,150 at the time of writing). This is an incredibly high price tag, and paying that much money for lifetime access to a service that doesn’t have a proven track record of longevity is somewhat sketchy, but it’s nonetheless an option for unlimited cloud storage.

Another interesting thing about Internxt is that it fragments your data into pieces and stores them on servers spread across various European countries. This leads to lower speeds, but it also provides a great degree of security and privacy for your files, as you won’t be putting them all in the same basket.

Final Thoughts: Unlimited Cloud Storage Providers

Well, that’s it, you’ve reached the end of the list. With these cloud services, you don’t have to worry about running out of space on the cloud, no matter how much data you want to upload. Sync.com is undoubtedly the best choice overall, but for those with deep pockets, Dropbox Business is also worth looking into.

What did you think of our list? Do you agree that Sync.com’s Teams Unlimited plan has changed the landscape of unlimited cloud storage? Or do you think one of the other services deserved the top spot? Are there any providers you think we missed? Let us know in the comments below. Thank you for reading.

  1. How can you skip google ‘s G suit?

    this article is completely rubbish.

    1. Cloudwards.net – Writer, Former Chief Editor

It’s not unlimited. Had you read the title or introduction of the piece, you would have realized that the main criteria is whether the service offers unlimited storage space.

      1. It is unlimited if you get 5 users or more. It’s just hell expensive.

        1. Cloudwards.net – Writer, Former Chief Editor

Yeah, I know. I think I was in an angry mood when the eejit I replied to posted his nasty comment 🙂 Thanks for the info, I appreciate it!

          1. box and dropbox also need 2 or more people, but you included them. obviously this article is biased. google drive unlimited (5ppl up, enterprise plan) is obviously SKIPPED. Real users take care!

        2. If it’s “hell expensive”, it doesn’t worth a place in the list. If it’s unaffordable, it’s like nothing.

        3. Right now it’s US$ 9.6 per user. To get unlimited you must have a least 5 users, which makes it just US$ 48. This is far cheaper than dropbox business (unlimited) which right now is US$ 25 per user but has to be a minimum of 3 users, which makes it US$ 75 in order to get the unlimited offer. I don’t think G Suite is “hell expensive” if comparing it in this way.

          1. Yea I don’t get this at all. Tried Dropbox “Unlimited”. With the business account (3 users) I have to ask support to pretty please increase my storage. I uninstalled and went to Google G Suite. Never looking back.

          2. All of this is mute now, that gsuit has been discontinued.

        4. FYI, GSuite doesn’t enforce the 5 user limit. You can absolutely sign-up and get unlimited storage. I only have 2 users on my GSuite account and it’s unlimited.

      2. Nice article. TY!

        1. Welcome

      3. In yo face ccchan!

  2. DropBox from my experience has been the best working with it through companies I worked for in the past. Im looking at it for personal use now.

Correct me if I’m wrong but o get Unlimited Data storage through DropBox, you would have to choose DropBox Business “Advance” option which is $20 a month but requires 3 users. So technically it’s $60 a month.

Does anyone know how to access DropBox Unlimited options for only 1 user? TIA.

    1. That’s right. I doublechecked it myself. $20 per user licence – 3 users minimum (non-negotiable). $60 a month.

There’s no Dropbox Unlimited for personal.

  3. Open Drive isn’t unlimited. I’ve just been stopped from uploading any more files as I reached a ‘limit’ despite my plan saying it is unlimited. Despite all over the site it saying UNLIMITED. it really isn’t unlimited.

    1. There is an explanation. Under personal unlimited data plan characteristics there is a note:

***Mass storage of media libraries and NAS/SAN devices not permitted on this plan***

So they must explain what is the meaning of “mass storage”. What if I am in the video making business and my files are all video/audio?

      1. I asked them about this:

We needed to add that disclaimer because some users were trying to upload hundreds of TB of media. Please see this link for restrictions on unlimited plans: https://www.opendrive.com/is-unlimited-storage-truly-unlimited

The Personal Unlimited plan’s upload speed begins to gradually slow down as you approach 10TB. If you have less than 10 TB then that should work.

The business plans speeds start to lower at 20TB

  4. You have a strange idea of cheap. At 10 cents per gigabyte, Rackspace is $100/month just for the first TB. The second TB is $90/month… This has to be the most expensive cloud storage on the planet.

  5. The summary at the top is rubbish, both Dropbox and Box are a minimum of $60++/month due to their minimum user limits. OpenDrive is the only real option in this category.
